Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner said that he spoke with a “high-ranking official” from Verizon, who said that the outages that many Edgemont residents reported was caused by “a vehicle accident that happened (on Sunday, Sept. 1).”
The crash, reportedly by a drunk driver, left Verizon customers in the area without power for days, and also forced a temporary road closure on Ardsley Road near Scarsdale Ford on Sunday night.
“Before their repair crews could start working, an electrical company had to make the site safe for Verizon workers- which delayed the repairs,” Feiner said in an email. “Their repair crews have been working this afternoon and evening following electric company making site safe for their workers. They are pulling new fiber now and splicing crews will also be doing work They will work tonight. They may need to complete work tomorrow.”
Feiner said that, “going forward (the town) will be working with Verizon to improve communications with residents, town officials the next time there is a major outage. Sorry for the inconveniences. “
